Chris Elmore

I’m Chris Elmore and I have been the Member of Parliament for Ogmore since 2016, following the changes to the parliamentary boundaries I am proud to stand as Labour’s candidate in the new Bridgend and Porthcawl constituency. Since I was first elected my only priority has been to serve my constituents, whether that is being their voice in Parliament or through the many community engagement events that I have organised throughout the constituency. From my Pension Credit Advice Day that supported 200 pensioners to my annual Funding Advice Day that has resulted in charities and voluntary groups benefiting from £100,000 worth of funding to support and deliver important community projects.

Bridgend can do better:
14 years of Tory neglect has hurt communities across Bridgend and Porthcawl, I want to make our town centres the thriving places that we know they can be. I want to prove to constituents in Bridgend and Porthcawl that their voice hasn’t been lost or forgotten. Being a full-time Member of Parliament is the only way to do this job and constituents are right to want an MP who is committed to representing them. If elected, I’ll ensure that constituents have as many opportunities as possible to engage with my office and my team.

We need a UK Labour Government:
Tory austerity has seeped into every street and household across the country. Living standards are at their worst for over 50 years, energy costs have spiralled out of control and household incomes are enduring a 3.5% real-terms cut this year.  After 14 years the writing on the wall is clear to see – the Tories don’t care about you or our community. Only a future UK Labour Government can put Bridgend and Porthcawl back on its feet with its long-term plan to create skilled jobs, boost investment and generate prosperity that the country can share in.
