Chris Elmore, MP for Ogmore has called on  Johnson to resign as Prime Minister following his confession at PMQs that he attended a party with 100 attendees at No.10 last May.

Chris Elmore spoke in Parliament earlier this week about his experience of almost missing the birth of his first child, and asked the Paymaster General to apologise on behalf of Johnson to parents across the country who went through similar experiences whilst he was flouting the rules.

Johnson has previously faced allegations of breaking covid restrictions over attending or hosting  parties during lockdowns in 2020 in 10 Downing Street, when Covid cases were soaring and the NHS was stretched to breaking point in England. Once again whilst communities in Ogmore were staying home to protect the NHS, Johnson disregarded the rules and partied on.

Chris Elmore shared his partner’s struggle whilst giving birth and the heartache that many expectant parents faced as they were separated from their partners at a special point in their lives.

Chris Elmore, MP for Ogmore, said:

“I have been inundated by emails from constituents who are quite rightly outraged that whilst they followed lockdown rules, missing births of children and not being able to visit dying loved ones, Johnson was partying away.

I myself almost missed the birth of my first child to protect midwifery staff whilst my wife bravely faced labour alone in hospital, an experience I know many constituents have also been through, whilst Johnson and his mates repeatedly broke the rules.

The Tories clearly think they’re above the rules, and Johnson cannot get away with his deceitful lies.  After making unimaginable sacrifices over the last two years, communities in Ogmore deserve more respect from a Prime Minister.  He must resign.”
