Chris Elmore, MP for Ogmore, spent Friday (16 June 2023) visiting the Coppice factory in Blackmill to learn more about the opportunities ahead of this great local employer.
The local MP was able to channel his inner Gregg Wallace as he explored the factory floor with Managing Director, Leon Elston, who demonstrated how they are utilising cutting-edge technology and manufacturing techniques to ensure the site delivers world-class packaging for the catering industry.
Coppice is an international packaging supplier to the food manufacturing, processing and baking industries. They also serve wholesale, institutional catering, and non-food markets.
The company was originally founded in 1972, they continue to innovate and adapt to meet packaging needs of the modern catering sector. Their renowned flexibility and service levels have earned them a reputation as a reliable packaging partner, and they are the chosen packaging supplier of companies around the world.
Chris Elmore, MP for Ogmore, said:
“Putting aside that I got to live my best life channelling my inner Gregg Wallace, visiting Coppice was an excellent opportunity to see how this local employer is straining every sinew to ensure they provide world-class products. This Blackmill site ensures our community supplies the catering industry with excellent products that stand the test of time.
“I want to thank Leon and the team who spent the time explaining the opportunities that lay ahead and how it’s vital we unlock them. In Parliament I’ve been pressing the UK Tory Government tirelessly to ensure that we can boost exports from Ogmore. Businesses are facing more red tape under the Conservatives when they want to export to markets in Europe and beyond. We must fix this mess.
“Local success stories, such as Coppice, show us what we can do if we work closely together: government, businesses and communities. The next UK Labour Government will ensure that this spirit of cooperation is at the heart of everything we do to ensure our economy grows fairly for everyone.”
