Ogmore MP, Chris Elmore, is encouraging all constituents to continue to follow the lockdown rules in place to prevent the further spread of this new, more virulent strain of the coronavirus, and to protect those more vulnerable and our NHS staff.

Rules state that everyone must now stay at home to try to slow the spread of the virus; that means, working from home where possible and only go out for essential reasons: to shop for basic necessities, to exercise, to seek or provide medical assistance, and to attend education for those eligible. This is now the same across the four nations. Children are expected to learn remotely until at least the 18th January in Wales, although this is under constant review by the Welsh Government.

If you are unsure about the specific rules and exceptions, please see the Welsh Government information: https://gov.wales/alert-level-4-guide.

Chris Elmore MP said:

“I know how difficult 2020 has been for everyone and that this new lockdown and the news of an English national lockdown will compound the financial and health concerns of many. We have to continue to follow the guidance to ensure the spread of this virus is slowed so that the vaccination programme has a chance to succeed.

“Until sufficient numbers have been vaccinated, we need to continue to pull together and protect our family and friends, and all those we come into contact with. I know it’s difficult and that we all miss seeing those we love, but there is light at the end of the tunnel, and we must not stop now.”

Support for constituents can be found on Bridgend and Rhondda Cynon Taf’s websites at bridgend.gov.uk/ or rctcbc.gov.uk as well as from Citizens Advice Cymru at citizensadvice.org.uk/wales/ or on the phone at 0800 702 2020.

In accordance with the lockdown rules and public health guidance, Chris’ office is working remotely but are still available for constituents to contact via email at chris.elmore.mp@parliament.uk or on the phone at  01656 860034.
