Chris Elmore MP for Bridgend & Porthcawl has taken action following an outpouring of concern from his constituents regarding the planned closure of Caffé Sidoli’s at McArthur Glen Designer Outlet in Bridgend. In response to numerous emails from local residents, he has written directly to the team at McArthur Glen, urging them to reconsider their decision.

McArthur Glen has chosen not to renew the lease of Caffé Sidoli’s, a café that has been a staple of the shopping centre for 26 years. This means that, unless the decision is overturned, the beloved independent business will close its doors for the final time on 23rd February. The news has been devastating for both its dedicated customers, many of whom visit daily, and for the café’s owners and employees, who have nurtured a welcoming and community-focused establishment.

Chris Elmore MP acknowledged the deep disappointment felt by the community, stating: “Many constituents have expressed how Caffé Sidoli’s has been so much more than just another eatery. It has been a true community hub—a place where friends and family regularly come together to catch up. It offers an atmosphere and a space that chain eateries such as Greggs and Starbucks simply cannot replicate.”

Recognising the importance of independent businesses in fostering a unique and vibrant local economy, Chris Elmore has asked McArthur Glen to rethink their decision and renew the lease for Caffé Sidoli’s, allowing it to continue serving Bridgend residents as it has done for over two decades.

Chris Elmore MP has assured his constituents that he will keep them updated as soon as he receives a response from McArthur Glen.
