During the early hours of Friday 5th July, I was privileged to be elected for the new Bridgend and Porthcawl constituency.

It is a huge honour to be elected to represent the community where I live with my family. I want to make clear from the outset, whoever you voted for, my job is to represent everyone and I plan to work every day to earn your trust. That work starts straight away, my focus will always be the communities that make up our wonderful constituency.

I want to thank my fellow candidates, standing for public office is difficult and I thank them for their campaigns and wish them well for the future. Thank you to my campaign team and my family, who have been a constant support throughout the many years I’ve been privileged to represent our communities in Parliament. My wife, Bridie, is an endless source of support who I couldn’t do the job without.

Finally I want to thank again the people who put their trust in me, I will do my best to serve you, rebuild trust and play my part in making the future of Bridgend and Porthcawl a better one.
