Chris Elmore, MP for Ogmore, has honoured the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in Parliament, and is encouraging constituents to get involved with the fantastic events taking place in Ogmore over the weekend.
Paying homage to the Queen in a speech in the House of Commons last week, Chris Elmore touched on the significant events in history the Queen has overseen whilst on the throne and her continuing dedication and commitment to uphold the UK’s institutions and laws.
There are events taking place across Ogmore in celebration of the Jubilee, including afternoon tea at the Three Horseshoes community pub in Cefn Cribwr on Thursday, and a tea party at Brynna Community Centre on Friday afternoon, in addition to street parties happening across the constituency.
Chris Elmore, MP for Ogmore, said:
“Last week in Parliament we heard speeches rightly highlighting the Queen’s devotion, integrity and quiet perseverance in the face of difficulty. When she was needed, she delivered. That is an example that we should all heed.
We have all faced an incredibly tough two years. The Platinum Jubilee has the power to bring communities together and give communities up and down the country a reason to celebrate. I have met with many of you who are planning street parties, raffles, picnics, and a good old fashioned knees up and I hope you all have a brilliant day filled with laughter and friendship.
Here in Ogmore, there are events planned in towns and villages across the constituency. With plenty to get involved in, so there’s no excuse to miss out on this once in a lifetime celebration.
Her Majesty represents the very best of Britain and I thank her and wish her many more happy years as our sovereign.”
