Chris Elmore, MP for Ogmore, backs local enterprise as he visits businesses across Bridgend County Borough, including a visit to Zimmer Biomet Institute on the Waterton Industrial Estate in Bridgend.

Zimmer Biomet is a driving force in the rapidly developing musculoskeletal healthcare industry, producing products that help alleviate pain and improve the quality of life of people locally and around the world.

With a centre on the outskirts of Bridgend, Zimmer Biomet plays a key role in supporting Ogmore’s economy by employing hundreds of local people.  As the local economy recovers following two years of the pandemic, Chris Elmore is visiting local businesses such as Zimmer Biomet to find out more about their work and how they can be supported.

“Bridgend County Borough is home to many fantastic businesses who play a vital role in the local economy, a number of whom have a reach that stretches across the globe.  One such company is Zimmer Biomet, who I had the pleasure of visiting recently.

Zimmer Biomet have been producing knee and hip replacements over the last 50 years, which are then shipped around the world.  They are a global leader in musculoskeletal healthcare industry, and employ nearly 600 people from the local area at their centre just outside Bridgend.  This makes them one of the largest employers in the region.

As such an important driver in the local economy, it was really valuable to meet with Zimmer Biomet to find out more about their work and have a tour of their Bridgend site.  I will continue to support local businesses and do what I can to stand up for them in Parliament.”
