Local representatives from clubs, community groups, and charities from across the Ogmore constituency packed-out Aberkenfig’s Community Church on Friday (6 March) at the latest Funding Advice Day held by local MP and AM, Chris Elmore and Huw Irranca-Davies.

This was the fourth annual Funding Advice Day the Ogmore duo have hosted, having previously held similar events in Pencoed, Llanharan, and Maesteg.

A wide range of different funding providers attended this year’s advice day, including the National Lottery Community Fund, the Heritage Lottery Fund, Sport Wales, and the Arts Council of Wales. Attendees were able to listen to presentations from all of the key lottery-funded providers and were then given the opportunity to have one-to-one advice sessions with all of the organisations present.

Chris Elmore MP said:

“I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along to this year’s Funding Advice Day. Every year it’s great to see so many fantastic clubs and community groups seeking advice and support to help them grow.

Huw and I know just how important the many brilliant groups we have across Ogmore are to our communities and we’ll continue to do all we can to support them.”

In previous years, numerous local groups have been successful in securing additional funds following Chris and Huw’s advice day. Attendees of this year’s event are being encouraged to keep in touch with them as they continue to seek future funding opportunities.

Huw Irranca-Davies AM said:

“I’m delighted that this event keeps growing year on year and is helping to bring more and more funding into our communities. I hope that all attendees have been able to have useful conversations today which will help them secure the funding they need to grow and provide even more benefits for local residents.

If you weren’t able to attend this year’s event but are part of a club or group that is looking for funding, please get in touch with us and we’ll be sure to get a copy of this year’s funding back sent out to you.”

Local members of clubs, community groups, or charities who were unable to attend Friday’s event are encouraged to get in touch with Chris or Huw, who are in the process of sending our funding packs to those who are still seeking support. To receive a pack, please email chris.elmore.mp@parliament.uk or huw.irranca-davies@assembly.wales.
