Chris Elmore MP is highlighting the exciting new employment and training opportunities for Ogmore’s young people via the National Grid’s graduate and apprenticeship schemes.

The National Grid owns and operates the electricity and gas transmission networks or ‘energy motorways’ in Wales and England, meaning that the current workforce will be helping to make the Welsh Government’s net zero goals a reality. The National Grid is currently in the process of hiring for their Graduate, Student Placement and Apprenticeship programmes and in applying for one of these programmes, Ogmore constituents will have the opportunity to join a new generation of talent which will shape the future of energy in the UK. This year, for the first time, National Grid are offering a new Gas Transmission Degree Apprenticeship where apprentices will study for a Bachelor of Engineering as part of their role.

Many new joiners will hone their skills at a one-of-a-kind, world-class training centre offering an unrivalled development experience.

Chris Elmore MP said:

“Young people in Ogmore are some of the most talented and determined people I have ever met. They have skills and potential that is second to none and that is why I wanted to ensure they didn’t miss this fantastic opportunity with the National Grid and I encourage people to apply for the vacancies.

“Gaining world-class training with the National Grid will give our young people the skills they need to progress their careers in a high-end sector. It is vitally important that we do all we can to cut our carbon emissions and if the young people of Ogmore gain a place on this scheme they will be at the forefront of our battle to climate change.

“Ensuring that constituents have access to decent jobs is extremely important to me. That is why I’m urging you all to share this opportunity with the National Grid with any young people in Ogmore you may know that are considering gaining a new skill and employment.”
